Realistically, I haven't got a CAC reader to function since 10.4.x or possibly early 10.5.x (mainly due to the CAC card changeover to the Oberthur card series). However, neither works when using OS 10.6.7.

Neither recognize the CAC or flash the led lighting in Mac OS.īoth show up in the System Profiler under USB when plugged in, and both work fine when emulating Windows w/ VMWare Fusion. Only difference so far between the SCR3500 and the SCR331 is the steady LED on the 331 vs no light on 3500. However, the light does not flash when the CAC is inserted, nor do any messages post to Console when the card is inserted. The light does come on steady when plugged into either USB port on my MacBook. Okay - I switched over to the older SCR331 reader. I didn't get an email notice of your latest post. could that be it?ĪLSO - I have NEVER been able to get a CAC reader to work on a MAC. I no longer am using a powerbook g4 I am using a Macbook now. Notice: 10:05:39 AM states - it failed to reach my powerbook g4 17. I have the same issues that Mark has been having (ghosted out Continue button in PKard Assisstant) but I DO get something in my Console Log:Ħ/26/11 10:05:23 AM /SourceCache/SmartcardCCID/SmartcardCCID-35253/ccid/ccid/src/commands.c:203:CmdPowerOn Card absent or muteĦ/26/11 10:05:23 AM /SourceCache/SmartcardCCID/SmartcardCCID-35253/ccid/ccid/src/ifdhandler.c:964:IFDHPowerICC() PowerUp failedĦ/26/11 10:05:24 AM TSSGSC PKard startingĦ/26/11 10:05:24 AM PKard TSSToken::probe - card connect failedĦ/26/11 10:05:26 AM token in reader SCM SCR 331 00 00 cannot be used (error 229)Ħ/26/11 10:05:39 AM rpc.statdğailed to contact host jon-shutts-powerbook-g4-17.local: RPC: Unknown hostĦ/26/11 10:05:49 AM Ĝreated prelinked kernel /System/Library/Caches//Startup/kernelcache_i386.9310203C. is not expected to have any effect, so no extra steps need to be taken in that regard. Please verify that the reader has the current firmware, and that it is plugged in to a powered USB port, and let me know if it still does not log anything in All Messages in the console.įinally, I wanted to let you know that the Beta 0.95 Tokend may interfere with the card reader. This firmware version is absolutely necessary in order for this reader to pass information to the Mac OS in any way.

The SCR331 has been tested in-house successfully, though, given that it has been updated to a firmware version of at least v5.25. I have to recommend against using this reader at this time. not been able to get the SCR3500 to work with the current versions of our software. I just checked with engineering, and they state that they have tested this reader successfully. You stated that you had tried two readers, a SCR3500 and a SCR331. No matter if PKard is working yet or not, there should be something logged in the "All Messages", and the lights should blink on the card reader when it is working properly. If nothing is happening when you insert the CAC (card reader lights up, etc.), please check that the card reader is plugged into a powered USB port. I replied with some incorrect information, and will edit accordingly.
